
The Directorate of Mid-Day Meal & School Sanitation, Andhra Pradesh, has issued fresh orders regarding the revision of material cost (cooking cost) under the PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal) Scheme for Classes I to X and Intermediate students.
As per the latest proceedings Rc.No.ESE02-27022/28/2024-MDM-CSE dated 18-11-2025, the Government of India approved an increase in cooking cost for the year 2024-25. Subsequently, the State Government issued detailed instructions for implementation.
Key Highlights of the Revised Cooking Cost
The Government has enhanced the cooking cost across all school categories. These revised rates will apply to:
- Primary Classes (I–V)
- Upper Primary Classes (VI–VIII)
- High School Students (IX–X)
- Government Junior Colleges (Intermediate 1st & 2nd Year)
Along with the revision, the Government has also ordered the withdrawal of Additional Menu Charges (₹0.43 for Primary and ₹0.40 for Upper Primary/High School/Intermediate).
Revised Cooking Cost – Category-wise Details
1. Primary (Classes I–V)
- Existing cost: ₹5.45
- Revised cost: ₹6.19
- Effective from: 19-02-2025
- Additional Menu Charges withdrawn from the same date.
2. Upper Primary (Classes VI–VIII)
- Existing cost: ₹8.17
- Revised cost: ₹9.29
- Effective from: 19-02-2025
- Additional Menu Charges withdrawn from 19-02-2025.
3. High Schools (Classes IX–X)
- Existing cost: ₹8.17
- Revised cost: ₹9.29
- Effective from: 08-08-2025
- Additional Menu Charges withdrawn from the same date.
4. Government Junior Colleges (Intermediate – 1st & 2nd Year)
- Existing cost: ₹8.17
- Revised cost: ₹9.29
- Effective from: 08-08-2025
- Additional Menu Charges withdrawn from 08-08-2025.
Instructions to Field Officials
All Regional Joint Directors, District Educational Officers, Mandal Educational Officers, and District Collectors have been directed to ensure immediate implementation of the revised cooking cost in all eligible institutions.
Schools must adopt the enhanced rates without delay so that students receive meals as per the updated PM POSHAN norms.
