Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (G.I.S.) – Summary
This plan kicked in on 01-11-1984.
It’s a must-join for every government worker.
This plan gives a lump sum when you retire or if the worker passes away.
When joining, the worker needs to fill out nomination forms and make sure they’re stuck in the Service Register (S.R.).
Contribution & Membership Details:
Employees who start after November get enrolled as members from the next November.
Between their starting date & the upcoming November, they should pay ₹5 per unit each month.
According to G.O. Ms. No. 312, Finance Department, for every ₹10 unit you pay:
₹3125 goes to insurance coverage.
₹6875 is for the savings part.
If someone dies, the insurance amount plus saved money with interest goes to the nominee(s).
Salary Scale Changes:
If an employee gets a Promotion or salary scale change, they need to start paying in line with their new pay group.
Responsibility and Recovery:
It’s up to the Drawing Officers to ensure the monthly GIS subscription is deducted from salaries.
If an employee takes Extraordinary Leave (EOL), they have to pay all due amounts for that leave time in three parts after coming back to work.
Loans & Advances:
No loans or advances come from this fund.
But, the fund might help with welfare projects for members like housing projects.
Payment Conditions:
Panchayat Raj teachers aren’t covered by this plan.
For all other kinds of teachers, the GIS amount should be paid when they retire.

From 01-04-2011 to 20-11-2011: 8%
From 01-12-2011 and onwards: 8.6%
సాముహిక భీమా పథకం (G.I.S)
ఈ పథకం 01-11-1984 నుండి అమలులోకి వచ్చింది.
ఉద్యోగులందరికీ ఈ పథకం తప్పనిసరి.
ఈ సొమ్ము ను ఉద్యోగి పదవీవిరమణ విరమణ పొందిన సమయం లో కాని, ఉద్యోగి మరణించిన సందర్భంలో కానీ చెల్లిస్తారు.
ఈ పథకంలో జాయిన్ అవ్వగానే ఉద్యోగి నామినేషన్ ఫారమ్ లు పూర్తి చేసి సర్వీస్ రిజిస్టర్ లో అతికించాలి.
నవంబర్ నెల తరువాత ఉద్యోగంలో చేరువారు తరువాత వ వచ్చే నవంబర్ నుండి సభ్యులుగా చేరతారు అయితే సభ్యులుగా చేరే వరకు ఐన కాలానికి ప్రతి నెలా ప్రతి యూనిట్ కు రూ.5 లు చెల్లించాలి.
GO.MS.No-312 Finance Department ప్రకారం ప్రతి 10రూ.లకు రూ.3125 భీమాకు రూ.6875 పొడుపు కు జమచేయ బడుతుంది.
మరణించినపుడు భీమా+ నిల్వ వడ్డీతో సహా చెల్లించబడుతుంది.
ప్రమోషన్ వల్ల ఏఇతర కారణాల వల్లగాని వేతన స్కేల్ పెరిగిన సందర్భంలో అందుకు అనుగుణమైన గ్రూప్ కు సంభందించిన చందా చెల్లించాలి.
ఈ పతకాన్ని అమలు పరచవలసిన భాద్యత అధికారులది శాలరీ నుండి ప్రతి నెల రికవరీ చేయవలసిన భాద్యత డ్రాయింగ్ అధికారులది.
Extrardinary Leave పైన వెళితే ఆ ఉద్యోగి చెల్లించవలసిన సెలవు కాలపు మొతాన్ని అతను జాయిన్ అయిన తరువాత మూడు వాయిదాలలో చెల్లించవలసి ఉంటుంది.
ఈ నిధి నుండి అడ్వాన్సు, అప్పు ఇవ్వరు అయితే గృహ నిర్మాణ పథకాలకు సభ్యులకు మేలు చేకూర్చే ఇతర పథకాలకు ఈ నిధి ని ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
పంచాయతి రాజ్ ఉపాధ్యాయులకు తప్ప మిగతా ఉపాధ్యాయులకి రిటైర్మెంట్ రోజే ఈ జి.ఐ.యస్ సొమ్మును చెల్లించాలి.
